2004 - Are we nearly there yet?
Thankfully some genious had the presence of mind to build a motorway through the pyrenees, so I was spared the embarrassment of falling off the bike on endless hairpin bends (an unfortunate hobby of mine!), but i think Paul would have liked to take the 'scenic' route!
Spain was pretty uneventful, just more riding South...... I guess we need to get used to that though! Our butts had toughened a bit now and so we could do a lot more miles without feeling like somone had stuck a red hot steel rod where the sun doesnt shine! This was lucky because we found a distinct lack of campsites between France and Madrid..... for future reference there is one extortionate establishment in the beautiful industrial town of Soria, which is neatly tucked beneath a motorway flyover and next to a railway line. If you have a chance you must go there!
The scenery in Southern Spain was impressive and we stayed in the mountains outside Cordoba ....... for a few hours the cloud, which has been following us, cleared and we did some sunbathing next to the pool! The boat to Morocco goes from Algecerias just outside Malaga. We rode through Marbella, Toromellinos and Malaga....not our cup of tea, but each to their own and met up with Gary, a fellow biker on his way to Morocco! We popped in to Gibraltar on our way to the port to have the tyres we had carried all the way from England put on the bikes and then crossed the water to Africa.......
