Day 1 - Monday June 3 2002
Finally it was monday, the day I was going to leave Melbourne and drive to the West of Australia. I planned to leave early but ofcourse that didn't happen. All these things that have to be sorted out at the last moment took ages. Anyway, I managed to leave around noon and tried to leave the city. Easier said that done. After some driving around in the city, not being able to find my way out, suddenly my clutch started to give me troubles, lots of revs, but no power. I parked it at the side of the road and found the problem pretty quick. A week before I changed my clutch lever for a new one and hadn't adjusted the clucthcable to it. Easy fix!

After about 45 minutes I was finally on the freeway to the West, but because of roadworks there were speedlimits all the time and I just didn't seem to move on. Finally after having passed Geelong I was out on the Great Ocean Road and drove allong this beautiful coastal route untill Apollo Bay. I reached this little beachtown around four and it was already getting cold, so I decided to find some accommodation and call it a day.

Day 2 - Tuesday June 4 2002
After having fixed a leaking clutchcovergasket I left Apollo Bay around ten o'clock. The Great Ocean Road first took me through the winding roads of Otway National Park and after that along a amazingly beautiful road right along the high cliffs and rock formations called the12 Apostels.
At the end of the afternoon I crossed the border with South Australia. Soon after that I arrived in Mt. Gambier and spend the night in an old jail which functions as a backpackers hostel right now.

Day 3 - Wednesday June 5 2002
Today my goal was to reach Adelaide. The ride from Mt. Gambier wasn't very interesting in the beginning but as I came closer towards Adelaide the scenery became really nice and I before I knew it I was right in the middle of town. Adelaide isn't that big, especially not compared to Melbourne, so that was quite a surprise. I found some accommodation and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the city.
