We Entered the lake bed from the Hwy 2D between Mexicali and Tecate. The route in the north is very hard packed salt any two wheeled car could drive. We headed south following rough gps cordinates and old little paper sighs from a a previous off-road rally route Score international was what the sighs said. We had been on the lakebed for a few hour when the route kept getting worse and worse hitting lose sand while being fully loaded on Adv bikes. Only myself had managed to fall over at this point but the sun was starting to fall at this point with no exit in sight. We made camp for the night contemplating what to do in the morning since we were lost and the only route out that we knew was back and through the rough stuff. As the sun was rising over the mountains in the morning I walked a lose track that looked like it led to know where only to find it intersected a well used track only a km farther. This was definitely the right route out. It led us to the hwy again on the SE side of the lake. Allthough we went through some very deep ruts evidence of treacherous mud. I would suggest if there has been any rain or rain on the forecast do not go this way. We have a youtube video on our experience on the Laguna Salada
