The James W. Dalton Highway, also signed as Alaska Route 11, and more commonly called the Dalton Highway. This is among North America's northernmost routes, stretching 666-km (414-mi) from Livengood, Alaska, at Elliott Highway (northwest of Fairbanks) to Deadhorse near the Arctic Ocean and the Prudhoe Bay Oil Fields in northern Alaska. Originally built as a supply route to serve the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. This route is open to the public all-year-round.

James Dalton was an engineer who supervised the construction of the Distant Early Warning Line and consulted in northern Alaska's early oil exploration.
