Sat 4 July

Drove towards Jasper stopped at viewing points en-route.

Restocked food at Jasper & continued towards Mount Robson where we stopped overnight, very pleasant campsite & information centre.

Sun 5 July

We got information at the visitor centre this morning & booked a campsite at Prince George (which proved a little further away than we realised).

Managed to purchase adaptor to charge phones etc at McBride.

Stopped at Ancient Forest & followed trail. (Photos).

Arrived campsite in Prince George at 6pm.

Jerry did 299 Kms.

Mon 6 July

Emptied sewage & filled up with water. Refuelled & shopped for provisions.

Left Prince George & journeyed to Stone Creek arriving around 1pm - the site was located on River Fraser, well laid out and kept. We swam in pool located in stream off Fraser River very close to campsite.

Tues 7 July

Left Stone Creek on 97, passed through Quesnel & spotted golf course, played 9 holes for the first ever time which took approx 2 hours.

Returned to the 97 for 20 minutes and stopped for night in rest area. Scorcher of a day.

Jerry did 129 Kms.

Wed 8 July

Had cooked breakfast & then proceeded along 97. We indulged in swim on Lake McLeese.

LAKE MCLEESE

We then turned off 97 at Williams Lake along the 20 & then turned off onto forest road to Raven Lake.

What a road the 20 to Bella Coola is!!

LAKE RAVEN

It was very hot & close. Smoke clouds developed & they seemed to be approaching so we returned to the main road (20) and stopped overnight in rest area with magnificent view. (We heard later on that there had been a major fire in the area we had stopped - just as well we got away).

Dave did 201 Kms.

Thu 9 July

We drove along 20 & stopped at general store at Alexis Creek where we bought a few provisions & enjoyed ice cream opposite Doodle Bugs Cafe (great names).

Arrived Clearwater Lake campsite & stayed the night (had swim from their balcony area). The owners were german and had been on site for many years. (Have to say that everyone we met in Canada have been very friendly).

Jerry did 175 Kms.

Fri 10 July

BREAKFAST AT CLEARWATER

JUST BEFORE DESCENT TO BELLA COOLA

Left Clearwater & journeyed into Tweedmuir Park where we stopped to photo magnificent scenery.

Negotiated spectacular descent into Bella Coola valley & took a short walk to Kettle Pond.

QUAINT CHURCH NEXT TO GNOME'S HOME

Camped at Gnome's Home campsite & played darts and had a burger at the Legion (where there was quite a gathering of people who had come for a barbecue).
