Me and Goldie, down side up, following the sun
Follow this story by emailFirst post just to get started. I’m holed up in Santiago waiting for my moto Goldie, she was supposed to be here last Tuesday, now the “hope” is this coming Wednesday. She’s a ‘14 BMW F800 gsa, well equipped and currently somewhat dismantled, crated and sitting in Miami customs and border patrol, a division of Homeland Security. I guess they think there’s a risk to the homelands if she’s realeased to SA.
She’s named Goldie as it’s her color and because I’ve gone thru a couple others to get the bike that’s just right, I hope. The first was a 1200 gsa, too big, the next an HP2e, too fragile and too hot. This 800 feels pretty good to drag my butt through the paces. Field tests done in Baja, Mojave, and NorCal.
From here, when and if we ever get out of here, we head south to TDF, soaking up as much as we can, then to Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Ur &Par aguay then back into the hills while hitting Mendoza/Córdoba and on north till back in the states.
Thats it for now. Headed out to see if I can find a place for travel vaccinations, info is spotty and if I can get a YF shot here I will as there’s been some outbreaks in Brazil and Bolivia and well I’ve got nothing else to do today. I’ll update when I have some news and something worthwhile to share.
