Set within the Butrint National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Archaeological structures and artifacts date back to the Bronze Age, Roman, Greek, Ottoman, Venetian, and Byzantine eras. A Roman theatre, Venetian castles, city walls, a great basilica, and a baptistery can be seen. It is recognized as a leading centre of Archaeology and conservation training. The area is surrounded by natural woodlands and has been visited by tourists since the 18th century.
