Medieval Goris Cave Dwellings

These man-made caves probably date back 1,000 years and are set within dramatic scenery of rocky spikes. Some are 20-30 metres tall and constructed such that the ceiling of one cave is the floor of the one above. The city itself is interesting with forts, towering rocks, and the Monastery of Tatev which was founded in the 9th century.
