Having been virtually flattened by bombing, the centre of the town was rebuilt as it was before the destruction in WW1, with all the magnificent architecture being recreated. The town centre is designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Every evening at 8PM, the ceremony of The Last Post is held at The Menin Gate to commemorate the fallen. You can also visit many WW1 battle sites from Ypres (Leper).
