Stilt houses and wooden walkways connect around 30 water villages, making it the world’s largest water village. It consists of 36 kilometres of wooden plank walkways that connect to shops selling silver work, brass, baskets and woven cloth. Everyday life can be seen: homes, restaurants, schools, mosques and a hospital. Known as "The Venice of the East", this community is home to around 30,000 residents. Despite the run-down appearance, it boasts modern amenities of electricity, air conditioning, satellite TV and internet access.
