Sucre
Bolivia
Every year as a governmental mandate, the buildings in this historic city must be whitewashed; hence, its other name of "White City". Red-tiled roofs and locals wearing traditional dress enhance the pleasing visual landscape. Sucre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tree-lined Plaza 25 de Mayo is said to be one of the largest and prettiest squares in South America. Grand colonial buildings from the 18 and 19th centuries reflect the influence that silver trading had on the community.
