Set on the beautiful shores of Lake Lucerne, this city has the famous landmark of the Chapel Bridge, a wooden structure dating back to the 14th century that also contains a series of paintings showing this city's history. The paintings date back to the 17th century. Nearby is the Water Tower, an octagonal fortification of the 13th century. The old town has half-timbered buildings with painted fronts. The Church of St. Leodegar was built in the Renaissance style with a highly decorated interior, and dates back to 1633.
