Chuquicamata is the world's biggest open-pit copper mine located 2,850 m above sea level and produces more than a quarter of Chile’s copper. The depth of the open mine is 850 m, making it the second deepest in the world. Guided tours are available and an early morning arrival is advised. You need to take your passport.
