A pretty Colonial town situated within a charming valley and full of religious and cultural history and heritage. Also known as the "White City" due to the colouring of the houses. Suffering an earthquake on March 31st, 1983, much of the city still shows the ruins. Some buildings, however, have been repaired or rebuilt. The annual Semana Santa celebrations are held with the main days of celebration being the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Easter week.
