Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca

This fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was built to defend the important port of Santiago de Cuba. Designed in 1637, it is said to be one of the most well-preserved and complete Spanish-American defence fortifications. It was based on Renaissance and Italian architecture and restored in the 1960s.
