Known as "The Church of Bones", this ossuary contains around 40,000 skeletons that are arranged in fascinating works of art and sculptures. It was recognised as a sacred cemetery in 1278. During the 14th century, the Black Death spread through the area and there were too many bodies to be buried within the sacred ground. In 1511, a half-blind monk gathered up the bones to be stacked within the ossuary. The bones were then arranged, including a chandelier and a coat-of-arms.
