Designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve this park covers 210 sq. miles with a large lake in the middle – the Konigssee. Surrounded by the high mountain landscape with dense forests, rugged cliffs, deep gorges, glaciers, steep rock faces and valleys. Popular places to visit are ‘The Eagles Nest’ (built to celebrate Hitler’s 50th birthday) and the Salt Mines at Berchtesgaden.
