One of the most important Renaissance castles in northern Europe, this castle was immortalised as Elsinore in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Full of secret passages, gloomy dungeons and a moat, it is one of Denmark’s top attractions. The castle chapel is still used for weddings and the Knights Hall is one of the oldest and largest in Europe.
