Otavalo Markets

Set high in the Andes, this market takes place every Saturday and is renowned for being the social centre of the northern highlands for centuries. Fresh livestock is sold along with pottery, jewellery, wooden animals, hemp, clothing and other local handicrafts. The locals are dressed in their brightly-coloured clothing and enjoy bartering.
