Saint Catherine's Monastery

Situated at the base of Mount Sinai is the world’s oldest functioning monastery. Inhabited since its completion in 550 AD, it houses collections of early Christian icons and manuscripts and is surrounded by rugged mountains. This area is sacred to the three religions of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
