Petäjävesi
Finland

The wooden church was built between 1763 and 1765, and the clock tower in 1821. The location was chosen because the congregation could cross the lake by boat in the summer or over the ice in the winter. A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Re- found in the 1920s and skilfully restored in the log construction, it reflects the skills of the peasant people who originally built it. Now it is mainly a tourist attraction with some services held during the summer months.
