The Gorges du Verdon

43.760675, 6.378717

France

Twenty-five kilometres long, this deep cliff gorge is said to be Europe’s "Grand Canyon". The most stunning section is between Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie where the river has cut a gorge of up to 700 metres. The river is a brilliant turquoise colour and the limestone rock attracts many climbers. Set within a national park, there are many walks, places to kayak or just drive and enjoy the stunning scenery.
