Tbilisi Historic District

The Old Town is full of cobbled alleyways, stained glass windows and old houses with carved wooden balconies. It is situated under the Narikala Fortress and there are many churches, synagogues, mosques and inns to view. In the district of Abanotubani are the warm sulphur baths that steam within the domed brick roof of the Orbeliani baths. These baths are lined with ornate tiles. One of the largest architectural monuments is the Sameba Cathedral. The Old Town is on the UNESCO Tentative List.
