Elmina

This pretty fishing town is home to one of Ghana’s most visited sites, the white-washed St. George’s Castle. It was the first European slave trading post and shows the grim conditions in which the slaves were held. There is a small museum with guided tours. The castle is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
