Gibraltar

Opened in 1816, these gardens cover an area of 15 acres and are a haven of peace with wooded areas, flowerbeds of sub-tropical plants from Australia and South Africa, a waterfall in the Dell area, and a fountain bridge. The open-air theatre is used in the summer for concerts. Originally built as a recreation area for British troops who were stationed on The Rock and, to that end, a day’s pay was stopped to help fund the project.
