The Upper Rock

The cable car stops at the first stage where The Apes Den and St. Michael’s Cave can be seen. Then on to the top for stunning views of North Africa, the meeting of the Atlantic and Mediterranean Oceans, numerous varieties of flora and fauna, and the famous Barbary Apes. Legend has it that whilst they are in residence, Gibraltar will remain under British Rule. If you are fit and not afraid of heights, you can climb The Mediterranean Steps or take a drive up the steep, winding narrow road to the top.
