Delphi

Situated at the base of Mount Parnassus, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was the spiritual centre of the classical Greek world. The ruins of The Temple of Apollo and the stadium and theatre are well-preserved from the 4th century. The stadium was the venue of the Pythian Games, forerunner of the Olympic Games. Tholos, the round temple encircled with columns, was erected to Athena, the goddess of wisdom.
