Lake Atitlán

Described as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Small Mayan villages dot the area. Culture and farming methods have not changed in centuries. The lake covers an area of 130 square-km. Surrounded by the volcanic mountains of Atitlán, Toliman, and San Pedro, it is one of Guatemala’s most famous tourist spots. Panajachel is the largest town and makes a good base for touring.
