The most impressive Maya ruin consisting of temples, ball courts, plazas, and ceremonial platforms. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and, in its hey-day, was the centre of religious, military, and political protocol. The centre of the site is the Great Plaza where the well-restored Temples V and IV reach the dizzying heights of 186 feet and 212 feet, respectively. A special pass must be obtained to view the sunset on nights with a full moon.
