Popularly called the Arena of Pula, this amphitheatre is one of the best preserved ancient sites in Croatia and was a place for gladiator fights. It was erected from 27 BC to 68 AD, and is one of the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world. Within the underground passages are regular exhibitions and the venue is host to summer performances, concerts, opera season, equestrian festival and a film festival.
