Pushkar Camel Fair

This annual 5-day event is usually held in November, but always coincides with the Kartik Purnima full moon in the Hindu calendar. It is not only an animal market, but is also full of festivities, music, dancing, stalls selling all types of wares, and competitions. A camel race starts the festivities with the camels highly decorated and groomed especially for the occasion. The local people dress in their finest, highly-coloured, clothing which adds to the glamour of this world famous event.
