This massive palace complex is one of the world’s most magnificent archaeological sites. Dating back to 515 BC, it is the showcase for the vast Persian Empire. Still existing are enormous marble stone columns with magnificent bases, staircases and facades with fine bas-reliefs, and capitals that represent mythical beasts. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
