Luang Prabang

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most beautiful cities in southeast Asia. Monastery temples have golden roofs and are decorated with murals and mosaics of the life of Buddha. Traditional Laotian wooden houses and architecture from the French-Colonial period can be seen beneath the rugged mountains. It is the centre of Laotian Buddhism with the orange-clad monks walking through the streets at dawn collecting alms.
