This gold covered Buddhist stupa dates from the 3rd century. It is the most sacred and important national monument and is the symbol of Laos. The stupa rises three levels to a height of 45 metres high with the main stupa covered with gold leaf. Red lacquer doors, many beautiful Buddha's, and images of flowers and animals complete the decoration. If you happen to be there in November, enjoy the 3-day Boun That Luang Festival celebrations.
