Held every Monday, this market is said to be one of the liveliest markets held in Africa and where goods of all sorts can be purchased. Set within this UNESCO World Heritage Site which is famous for its 2,000 adobe buildings and the Great Mosque which was built in 1907. The city is one of the oldest known cities in sub-Saharan Africa. If you go at the end of the rainy season (August/September), the city becomes an island.
