Set within Lake Malawi National Park, this lake was "discovered" by Dr. Livingstone in 1859 and named Lake Nyasa. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also known as the Calendar Lake as it is 365 miles long and 52 miles wide. Surrounded by beautiful golden sand, the lake is home to hundreds of tropical fish. Small fishing villages dot the shore where traditional fishing methods are still a tourist attraction.
