Khoo Kongsi Temple

This is the best known and grandest clan temple in the country and is one of the city’s most visited sites. Set within George Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the building is highly ornate and reflects the Chinese influence within Penang. Known as "The Heritage Jewel of Penang", the architecture is said to resemble the Emperor’s Palace in China. The complex also has a theatre where Chinese operas are performed during the seventh lunar month.
