With a deep natural harbour, a bay, and sandy wide beaches with palm trees and a coral reef, this is a place to relax. In the Muslim quarter (known as Paquitequette), the houses are built in the traditional manner with mud, thatch, and coral rock. Colonial buildings are derelict with some covered with cashew nut trees while others are traditional shops. Dhow fishing boats dot the sea and the sand.
