12.127902, -86.295819
Every August, a religious celebration takes place where the statue of Saint Domingo is paraded throughout the streets. The statue is accompanied by horse parades. People wear traditional costume and dance to traditional music. The "cow costume" is worn by professional dancers who wear a picture of a cow’s head over a red costume. They then dance to rhythmic songs whilst surrounded by other dancers dressed as bulls. Many other festivals take place throughout the country in September when the Independence from Spain is celebrated.
