11.98688, -86.166252

This national park is famous for the volcanic craters and for volcanoes that can be accessed by a steep road 5 km from the park's entrance. The Masaya volcano continually smokes and the crater emits sulphur gas. Volcanic ash and rocks surround the area where the landscape is severe and rough. The volcano erupted multiple times as recently as 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2008. A variety of animals live within the park: skunks, coyote, raccoons, deer, monkeys, iguanas, and opossums.
