Set within the beautiful Sounds, Marlborough lies in the Wairau Valley and was the birthplace of the country’s wine-growing industry. Famous for the Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris which are produced at the many wineries (over 65). The first Sauvignon Blanc was produced in the late 1970s and now the area has 62 percent of the country's total world-famous wine production.
