Panama Carnival

The official Carnival starts four days before Ash Wednesday, although celebrations often start before that and is recognised as one of the largest festivals in the world. Panama City's main thoroughfare, Vía España, is the main place for parades and celebrations. At the nearby town of Las Tablas, the "High Street" and "Low Street" vie for the best costumes and floats. Each faction has a Carnival Queen, concerts, games, fireworks, food booths, games, and dances. Large trucks will pass through the streets spraying the crowd with water.
