Wawell Hill

The Royal Castle and Cathedral are wonderful examples of Gothic and Renaissance buildings. The Royal Castle has magnificent 16th century Flemish tapestries, ornate ceiling frescoes, Baroque furnishings, and Italian and Dutch paintings. The armoury and the crown treasury can also be seen. In the cathedral are the royal crypts where statesmen and heroes are buried. The top of the bell tower gives an overall view of the Old Town where many original buildings still stand.
