Completed in 1756, the Catherine Palace was the summer residence of the Tsars. The Rococo design building has 100 kilograms of gold on the facade, many statues, and possibly on the roof. Inside are lavish rooms with beautiful ceiling murals, gilt work, wood floors, and oil paintings. The amber room has amber inlaid panels, wall-mounted mirrors, and mosaics. The Pavlovsk Palace is gold and white with a surrounding 1,500 acre estate.
