At-Turaif District in ad-Dir'iyah

24.757495, 46.546702

This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the original home of The Saudi royal family. Mud-built buildings are set in three districts, but the easiest area to access is the Turaif. Salwa Palace is constructed on four floors and is the largest building in the area. The Saad bin Saud Palace is famous for the courtyard that once was used to stable horses. The Guest House and At-Turaif Bath House are traditional buildings with rooms radiating from the small courtyards. Water was supplied from a nearby well in the wadi. The site lies on either side of the Wadi Hanifa which continues southwards to Riyadh and beyond.
