Lake Bled

Stunningly surrounded by mountains and forests, this lake is 2,120 m long and 1,380 m wide with a maximum depth of 30.6 m. A much-visited tourist site and popular with rowers, having been the venue for the World Rowing Championships on several occasions. Bled Island is home to the pretty red-and-white castle which has a Romanesque wall with ramparts, towers, and parapets. Also on the island is the Baroque-style Church of the Assumption dating back to 1698.
