Alegría Lagoon (Laguna de Alegría)

This emerald green lagoon is surrounded by lush vegetation, mountains and wildlife. The water is said to be medicinal, but folklore also states that the lagoon is inhabited by a mermaid who will lure young men to their death. The lagoon was formed within the crater of the Tecapa Volcano. One of the most visited areas in El Salvador.
