The Grand Palace

The Grand Palace consists of over 100 beautifully constructed buildings that display Thai art and architecture. Built over two centuries ago, the buildings are ornate with gold inlay and surrounded by lawns, courtyards, and gardens. The Outer Court houses the world famous "Temple of the Emerald Buddha’"(Wat Phra Kaeo Temple) where the 26-inch jade Buddha is the most venerated religious object in the country. It is displayed on a throne 34-feet-high and protected by bronze lions. The Inner Court was home to the King’s royal consorts and daughters and is closed to the public.
