Table Mountain

A sandstone, 1,086-metre tall mountain which is visible from 40 miles out at sea. The flat summit is nearly 3 km long and offers wonderful views of the city and beaches. Rich in fauna and flora with over 1,400 plant species, including wild orchids and 250 different daisies. There are porcupines, baboons, the furry rodent called Rock Dassies (similar to a plump rabbit without ears), and the Table Mountain Ghost Frog which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The summit can be reached by cable car or a 2-3 hour hike.
