Finally it has Started (UK)
The plane trip with AirAsia was fine. A bit of a long wait in KL before the trip flight to Stanstead in England. With our first night sleep on English soil under our belt we set-out to do some sight seeing around London. Over the next couple of days we continued to familiarise ourselves with London and surrounds. This included a ride around every possible tourist spot around London on a double decker bus.
The narrow roads that the bus had to navigate was an eye opener. We were flying through gaps with inches to spare.
We purchsed a UK sim card for the phone when we had some spare time and it has amazed me the difference in prices of phone calls between Australia and the UK. We really are getting ripped off.
The spring flowers are out with Daffodils and Tulips everywhere.
The cost of public transport here is quite dear by Australian standards with the equivalent of the train trip to Melbourne from Ballarat costing twice as much ($40)
With this we cant wait to pick up the bike.
Finally the wait is over, we can go to Felixstowe and pick up the bike.
Felixstowe is a lovely little city with a massive port shoved on the side of it. The Hotel we are staying at is nice but like the rest of the places we have stayed at and eaten at, the cheapest thing on the menu is english breakfast consisting of Bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans, ,,, for Dinner Roast or carvery. And I thought I would loose some weight on this trip.
We picked the bike up the morning after we arrived at Felixstowe and it was a hassle free event. Dave Milligan pretty well had everything sorted. All we had to do was pay for insurance and then bolt the panniers and top box on. We rode out of there a little apprehensive. The trip has started. We took the bike back to the hotel and loaded the gear for the following day.
OOPs we have too much stuff. UK postal service here we come.
The next day we get of to an early start, lovely weather cold 13deg but sunny. Easy riding and we see some of Englands lovely (cold) coastline. We headed through suffolk and then into norfolk. All lovely with good roads and fantastic gree landscape.
Brons comment of the day was "everywhere you look there is something beautiful to look at" and I cant help but agree.
We spend the next few days heading up into Whitby to start the North York Moors ride, as described in a book Bron borrowed from the library. Looking around Whitby was beautiful. What a lovely place. It is also where Captain James Cook came from. Wonder if he only did his exploration in the winter months? (to get away from the cold)
So glad we have the GPS. The roads are a bit everywhere, It takes a fair bit of the stress out of navigating these roads and areas. The roads around here are narrow and twisty, with an average speed between 60 and 80kmph. Scenery is breathtaking, but if i take a breath it hurts coz it is so bloody freezing. Temp seems to hover around 10deg C during the day and down to 3 at night. Lucky we have the good sleeping bags. we are fortunate that we have been able to stay out of the rain so far with only a few sprinkles to keep us honest.

We are now in the lakes district and will be heading to Scotland for some more cold climate thrills.
